Jane Reister Conard,  J.D., a health lawyer/mentor associated with the Center for Law and Biomedical Sciences, and her colleague Jeanne F. Franklin, J.D., of Arlington, VA, will present a seminar, “Can’t We All Just Get Along? Conflict Management for Medical Staff Services Leaders,” at the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) Annual Conference on September 23, 2013 in Hollywood, Florida.

The presentation responds to both The Joint Commission Conflict Management (Leadership) standards and the sea changes resulting from healthcare reform by introducing concepts and skills to deal with disputes, conflicts, and differences of opinion that arise in medical staff and healthcare settings.  With the implementation of new collaborative healthcare delivery organizational structures and a shift to value-based reimbursement, conflict management becomes an increasingly essential skill.  A conflict competent healthcare staff will be effectively positioned to meet the challenges of healthcare reform.
