Professor Heather Tanana appointed to positions with AALS & ABA

Portrait of Heather TananaResearch Professor and Stegner Fellow Heather Tanana was recently appointed to the position of secretary for the Association of American Law Schools’ Section on Indian Nations and Indigenous Peoples. The Section on Indian Nations and Indigenous Peoples promotes the communication of ideas, interests, and activities among members of the Section and others in related fields and makes recommendations on matters of interest in the teaching and improvement of the law.

 

Professor Tanana was also appointed to the Task Force on Environmental Justice by the American Bar Association. The task force was created to help implement ABA Resolution 513, which urges law firms, corporate and nonprofit legal departments, lawyers, law schools, and state local, territorial, tribal and specialty bar associations to prioritize environmental justice and ensure communities of color, indigenous communities, low-income communities, and other vulnerable populations are included in decision-making and implementation processes as stakeholders.
