Utah Scholars Ask Lawmakers to Look at the Data with Permitting Reform

Sep 21, 2022 | LPP Blog

Great article by Zak Podmore in the Salt Lake Tribune about permitting reform.  As he points out, assumptions held by NEPA critics don’t always align with the data. Our research showed many sources of delay in the permitting process can be addressed without reducing analytical rigor. Delays caused by a lack of staff, budgets, or expertise in underfunded federal agencies should not be fixed by reducing environmental standards. The argument that it is permitting reform or clean energy is a false dichotomy.
